A series of introductions to Islam through several articles accompanied by video clips.
I have been considering writing about many hot issues for a while to, perhaps, contribute to the knowledge of the reader.
However, it’s been hard to decide on what to begin with, what issues to tackle first, what would benefit people more. I wasn’t sure whether I should address some doubts, and what doubts are to be addressed. Should I start with Islam as a faith, or should I discuss Islamic law (Sharia)?
God, then, guided me to start writing a series of articles, which may become a book and a reference one day, to provide a simple explanation of Islam from the beginning, away from getting into controversies that do not benefit those who would like to generally learn about Islam; a series of article that isn’t difficult to comprehend.
So here we begin with the help of God and the praise of his prophet the master of all humanity (peace be upon him).
When we talk about Islam, we talk about a religion that is claimed to be sent from heaven.
We need to recognize the God, that Muslims claim to be the creator of the universe. Then we need to get to know the mediator (prophet) who delivered this message to us. We also need to know what this message that the Prophet came up with contains.
To explain, Islam is divided into three sections: Doctrine, Law (Sharia), and Morals. The fruit of adherence to these three sections is happiness in this life and the hereafter, as God says “Whoever follows my guidance shall not be lost or suffer”
Doctrine, or Faith, is a science through which we are introduced to the Creator and God-related issues. It also introduces us to those issues related to the prophets; the mediators between us and the Maker of the universe and inform us of His regulations, which is known in the science of Faith as the Prophecies. It finally deals with the mystical matters that are thought to occur at the end of time and after death, and this is known as the hearings.
Through Islamic law (Sharia) we learn about the different aspects of the relationship between man and God, which is called worship, as well as the relationship between man and other creatures, which is called the interactions. There is then the aspect that regulates the imbalance in any of the above-mentioned areas, which is called restrictions and sanctions.
Abiding by the rules of these two sections, Faith and Sharia, results in good morals. This is where the science of Ethics or Sufism, which aims to purify the human soul, becomes evident. Reaching good morals is only achievable through adhering to the revelation, as in the Holy Quran and the Sunnah, not through false innovations and superstitions.
Now that we have learned about the structure of Islam, we move on to talking about its main element. We now talk about God, the Maker of the universe. But, before we talk about God’s qualities and all things related to Him, our minds need to be convinced of His existence. It is necessary to ask: if the mind becomes unbiased and starts to explore, will it accept that there is a Creator of the universe, or would the idea be illogical?
The universe around us is made up of matter and energy. This matter, which our bodies are made of, is subject to universal laws that do not change or contradict the norm. One of these laws, for example, is that there is a maker to everything that is made, and that there is an agent to every action. Let’s say a man walks in the desert and finds a phone lying on a heap of sand. The mind will certainly deduct that someone must have left this phone there.

Similarly, suppose that someone, who was sitting with his friends in a closed room, went out to pray. He left his phone with them, and when he returned, he did not find the phone that he left with them. When he asked for his phone, they said that they don’t know where the phone is, as if it simply disappeared. Would the human mind accept this naïve assumption!?

If you leave your housekeeper home alone with all your money and valuables and come home to find out that everything has disappeared.  Would you believe her if she says that those valuables just vanished into thin air, provided no one else walked into the house other than her?
The two previously mentioned examples show the reader that matter is governed by reason and that it is inevitable for the human mind to rely on it at all stages of life since it becomes aware of its surroundings and till death.

All human knowledge and sciences are based on this law. So, if we assume that things could happen without a doer, we will tear down all the laws that humans have known. We will demolish the knowledge of Biology, Physics and Chemistry, and Criminology. This will lead to the spread of atrocities in the universe, and all crimes will be attributed to the unknown. We wouldn’t even acknowledge that an unknown person committed those crimes since we believe that actions do not need a person to be executed.

As we know, the age of matter can be determined when it is scientifically examined, which is sufficient evidence to refute the idea of the eternity of the universe. Likewise, the previously provided mental proof is enough to invalidate the absence of a maker of this universe.

This Creator can either be a part of the universe and therefore subject to its laws. This assumption will cause us to fall into a mental contradiction because we assume that the maker, who is subject to the laws of matter, must also have a maker, which would lead to an endless illogical sequence of thoughts. The other hypothesis would be that the Creator is not subject to the laws of matter and the universe. He is not made of substance and matter, and therefore these laws do not apply to Him. This is the God that Muslims worship.

Did this God send a message to his creatures? Did He create them and abandon them? Does the human mind reject the idea of the prophets?

That's what we're going to discuss in the next article, God willing. So, stay tuned!
